PTO Dates and Notes - next PTO Meeting June 5th!

PTO Dates and Notes!

Our next PTO meeting date has been changed to: Thursday June 5th

PTO Openings!

I know it’s a little soon to be thinking about the 2008/2009 school year, but the PTO has some openings that would be better filled now than in the Fall.  Sadly, our secretary will not have kids at the school next year, so we will need to fill that spot.  And Programs is also open.  Since some programs require deposits this year for next, I thought it would be good to have next year’s chairs involved in that process. There will be other chair openings, but I thought they could wait to be filled.  That way any new incoming parents would be notified also.

Secretary: The secretary attends meetings and takes care of the minutes.  The minutes are brought to the next meeting and voted on to get approval.  The secretary also writes any “thank you” notes/letters that are necessary.

Programs:  The program chair(s)  coordinate with the teachers on any field trips or programs that the teachers want for the students.  There is a budget given to the coordinators.  The funds available are usually just divided equally between the grades.  Field trips/programs are then scheduled accordingly.  There are some grades that have programs they do every year.  Teachers who do not have specific programs in mind may ask you to research ones of interest.

End of Year Picnic at Fountain Park

We are coordinating an End of Year Picnic at Fountain Park for Soule Road families.  It will be June 10th  - with a raindate of June 11th.  Notices will be sent home.

Staff Appreciation Day

Good Afternoon-

I just got back from the Staff Appreciation Luncheon at Soule Road and Meg Cyr did a Fantastic job coordinating it!  She had so many volunteers helping her make it possible I couldn’t even count them.  There were parents watching classes so the staff could all enjoy lunch together, there were parents outside watching kids at recess and there were more parents in the library helping Meg serve/set up the luncheon!  The Front office and Nurse’s office were also covered.  Meg thought of everything.

It seems the day is just as fun for the kids as it is for the staff!

Meg also took this opportunity to present Mrs. Sullivan with a retirement gift on behalf of the PTO.
Mrs. Cooney and daughter Natalie

Lisa Leary and her chargers, oh I mean “charges”

Teachers getting the chance to visit and enjoy lunch all together

Mrs. Albano with daughters Gianna and Sofia or is it Sofia and Gianna (only they know!)

Mrs. Gauthier was one of the center piece raffle winners!

Mrs. Sullivan is presented with a beautiful bracelet. Mrs. Elliot’s class keeping busy while she enjoys her appreciation luncheon.

Have A Great Day-
Shelly

Book Fair starts tomorrow!

Hi Everyone -

I was in the school with a bunch of parents today helping Sue Prairie set up for the Book Fair.  Its the “Buy One Get One”  book fair.  I just wanted to let everyone know that you should go check it out.  It is a really good deal.  There are a lot of great current hard cover as well as paperback books that are normally expensive.  So to get one free is a great deal and can be used as wonderful gifts.

Also, buying books for teachers is different this time.  If a student wishes to donate a book to the teacher’s classroom, instead of just purchasing the book, they are doing donation gift certificates in the amounts of $1, $5 and $10.  The teachers can then pick out what the class library  needs. In the past the kids really liked donating a book to the classroom, but if someone got there first, there were no book requests left.

And don’t forget, you can go to the Gym Tuesday night with (or without?) your kids on Tuesday night from 6-9pm

The Book Schedule is as follows:

Tuesday
9-9:30 Mrs. Lefort
9:30-10 Mrs. Elliot
10-10:30 Mrs. Suojanen
